Central Bank Sports Complex
Overall Ranking-9.5/10
When I first arrived at this complex I was very surprised. It was very clean and well spread out. This softball complex was transformed from turf soccer fields. They build backstops and put temporary fences to create a softball complex. Due to these fields really being soccer fields the whole field was green. This factor was very different, but didn't change perspectives while playing as much as I would have thought. The foul lines on the field were made very distinct and didn't change play of the game at all. The batters box on the other hand was very faint and almost too small for play. This could have changed the game with players stepping out of the box while hitting/slapping. The warmup space for each team was something that was really beneficial for all teams. The areas in between fields allowed for each team to warm up properly and have space.
When talking about attending a softball game, the concession stand always plays a role. This complex was built by Sporting KC and provided just that high level service. The concession stand was a walk-in gas station lay out. With food that was already made and sitting in a warmer. Along with fridges full of different drinks to choose from. The service while checking out was very efficient with iPads to check out. The only issue with this was only one of the stands were open and it was on the other side from where we were playing. The bit of a walk made some people in the park not want to go purchase even if they were hungry. The park definitely lost some money from this happening.
For the fans that are just coming along for the ride because they have to even have something to do. Around the park there were two play areas with multiple things to climb, swing and slide down. These areas allowed for siblings and other kids to have enjoyment like everyone else at the park. One of the areas was a Variety KC area built for kids with disabilities who may be challenged with typical playground equipment. I felt this really set this park out from othersI have played at in the past.
This sounds like a great place for a tournament.
