Mid-America Sports Complex

Mid-America is another park that holds a very large tournament. This tournament has teams come from across the country to play against the best. With college coaches coming to Kansas to recruit from all over the country as well. Some of the biggest names in softball coming to watch softball. This year playing at these fields there was even a team from New Zealand. The conditions of this complex it is definitely top notch. These ten fields are fully turfed for slow pitch games in the last couple years. There are two groups of four fields then two fields that are pretty far from the entrance. The distance of these two fields is what limited my score for this complex. Due to the fields being deeper they did have temporary fences up and mats for the pitchers to pitch from the appropriate distance. This was actually beneficial for all teams coming to play as it allowed teams to warm up behind the field before the game to prepare for the games. Not only was this space available on every field, there was a specific space toward the back of the complex with an open turf area. Along with a line of tunnels to hit that were turfed as well. These fields also had very big dugouts on each field that allowed the players to have their own space for their belongings. 

The spectators coming to this complex had a great area to relax or cool off from the sun. This area was between all the fields right in the middle of the complex. It included a nice shaded area with a concession stand, that had a wide variety of options to choose from. This was not the only area for spectators to get concessions don't worry. There were two placed between each of the four groups of fields. There is not one by the two fields furthest from the entrance. 

For the little ones just coming along for the ride, there was a play area that had many things to climb or slide down. The design was also revolved around sports with a Variety KC tiny baseball field for the little ones coming to the park and even a giant glove with a baseball just for looks. The area was turfed and had a slides that went to a lower area of turf that was level with the fields. This aspect of the park was very pleasant visually and to actually use. On the other side of this area there was even multiple bags games set up for people to come play.
