Legacy Park
Legacy Park holds one of the biggest tournaments over memorial day. Many teams come to play at this park right after the school year ends. It is a pretty typical dirt complex with eight fields total. This park included hitting tunnels in the middle of the two groups of four fields. This allowed teams to warm up and hit off front toss if needed. This area was very small and had very limited space to warm up with. A lot of teams had conflicts when finding warm up space, especially if they wanted to use the four tunnels that were available. When looking at the field conditions it appeared to be very good. Once you stepped on the field that changed quite a bit. The infield was very hard and had very little dirt covering the surface. This allowed for bad hops to occur throughout games on the field. In the outfield there were a lot of holes in the grass in spots the players would stand. This didn't change the plays on the field too much. The factor that did was the thickness of the grass. This stopped a lot of hard hit balls from rolling and also made it challenged for fielding ground balls on the run. The biggest deal breaker of this park is that there were no nets to catch foul balls. A lot of people got hit by balls coming from other fields over to the area they were sitting watching a game. This caused fear for fans watching the games.
The spectators were taken care of with a variety of options at the concession stand to choose from. One thing that I saw that was different was shaved ice. It was provided with many different flavors to choose from. This is different from many parks that have Kona Ice come and serve the fans. This was made by the people working the stand itself. The other options on the menu were pretty typical of all complexes, but the prices were pretty high.
The little fans coming along with their parents had nothing to do at this park. There was no play area or open space to run around. This caused the little fans to be complaining through the whole game or run where a team could be warming up.
